The original cutoff gate and embankment of Zhonghe Medium Drainage are outdated, making the gate difficult to operate and maintain, which reduces the efficiency of tidal control and drainage. Additionally, it serves as an automatic water level regulator in the tidal zone for the "Zhong Canal Seventh Group" of the Dadu Canal Irrigation District during upstream water shortages. This prevents salinization and allows for the irrigation of nearby farmland, necessitating the gate improvement project.

The newly improved tidal gate not only facilitates energy-efficient and labor-saving on-site operations but also incorporates CCTV monitoring equipment for easier maintenance and management.
